Hidden diversity of Chlorococcum (Chlorophyta) in a shallow temporary freshwater lake: description of Chlorococcum szentendrense sp. nov

چکیده

Chlorococcum is a coccoid green algal genus, which contains almost 50 species. The genus polyphyletic, but in traditional sense, the cells are and non-motile with cup-shape chloroplast vegetative stage, while spores have chlamydomonad appearance. They distributed worldwide mainly terrestrial habitats, biotechnological potential of several strains has been reported. In this study, three new from shallow, temporary freshwater lake Hungary characterized using microscopic (light transmission electron microscopy) DNA-based methods (phylogenetic analysis ribosomal ITS region, 18S RNA rbcL genes, secondary structure comparison). Based on obtained results, one isolates considered to represent species, described here as szentendrense sp. nov.

Algoriphagus aquatilis sp. nov., isolated from a freshwater lake.

A Gram-negative, non-spore-forming, non-motile bacterium, strain A8-7(T), was isolated from fresh water of a slightly alkaline lake, Longhu Lake, in Daqing, north-east China, and its taxonomic position was studied by using a polyphasic approach. Strain A8-7(T) was aerobic, heterotrophic and positive for catalase and oxidase. It grew at 20-37 degrees C (optimum 30 degrees C) and pH 5.5-10.5 (opt...

Description of Astragalus barnasariformis sp. nov. from Iran

A new species of Astragalus is described: Astragalus barnasariformis sp. nov., Maassoumi, F. Ghahrem. & Bagheri. It is endemic to Zanjan province in northwestern Iran. Morphological evidence supports taxonomic placement of the new species in Astragalus sect. Trachycercis. The species appears to be most closely related to A. barnasari Grossh. and A. chalilovii.

Roseomonas lacus sp. nov., isolated from freshwater lake sediment.

An aerobic, Gram-negative bacterial strain, TH-G33T, was isolated from freshwater sediment of Taihu Lake in China. The taxonomy of strain TH-G33T was studied by using phenotypic and phylogenetic methods. Cells of strain TH-G33T were coccoid rods or rods and formed colourless to pale-pink colonies on nutrient agar. Phylogenetic analysis based on nearly complete 16S rRNA gene sequences showed tha...

Sixty strains of Gram-negative, anaerobic, rod-shaped bacteria from human sources initially assigned to Leptotrichia buccalis (n=58) and 'Leptotrichia pseudobuccalis' (n=2) have been subjected to polyphasic taxonomy. Full-length 16S rDNA sequencing, DNA-DNA hybridization, RAPD, SDS-PAGE of whole-cell proteins, cellular fatty acid analysis and enzymic/biochemical tests supported the establishmen...

Labrys methylaminiphilus sp. nov., a novel facultatively methylotrophic bacterium from a freshwater lake sediment.

A new bacterial isolate from a methylamine enrichment culture is described, representing a novel species of facultatively methylotrophic bacteria. The non-motile bacterium is Gram-negative, replicates by budding and does not form endospores. The isolate utilizes methylated amines, as well as a variety of monosaccharides, disaccharides, amino acids, organic acids, aromatic compounds and alcohols...
